Trends

Freedom of religion and speech
For almost 10 years, Islam has been a hot button topic as the world grapples to understand the religion outside of the political face the West has come to fear. In recent months, the American debate surrounding Islam has brought up an age old tenet of our nation: the inalienable rights of  freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Back to basics
In times of uncertainty, there is a collective trend to get back to the simple things in life and reflect on what is important: health and well-being, spirituality and meditation, food and nutrition, and the people in our lives. Bridgeman has a wealth of imagery on everything from religious concepts and practices, to the Eastern practices of yoga and meditation, history of social health systems and the often wacky ways we've kept healthy, to the history of food as both a source of nourishment and a catalyst for our social lives.

Money, the economy & the cult of celebrity
As James Carville famously said, "It's the economy stupid!"  The current economic climate brings memories of the Great Depression and its aftermath to the forefront of our consciousness. The economy, corruption and the narcissistic obsession with the cult of celebrity are central themes of our conversations at home, at the water cooler and in the media.
