Additional services provided by the Bridgeman scanning team
- Provide isolated details on request
- Supply the client with larger file size if required
- Remove frame shadows, spotting, any other blemishes
- Supply printed proofs alongside the digital file if necessary
- Color black and white engravings and sepia tone old photographs (see below)
- Check first printer proofs from clients for orientation, color quality, cropping and advise accordingly
We hold transparencies as well as high resolution files and thus we are in the unique position of being able to go back to the original photography.

Working with Artist's Estates
Dave Nicol has been with Bridgeman for eight years and oversees the scanning department. Two ICG colour drum scanners quickly produce the highest quality scans of all types of transparencies.
The team has built up reciprocal relationships with key artists’ estates, including those of Picasso, Mondrian, Chagall and Matisse. This enables expert quality advice on inaccessible artworks during tight deadlines. Visits to exhibitions with image proofs in hand also help the team compare digital files directly with the original works of art.
