Biography information
Pedro Diego Alvarado was born in Mexico City in 1956 to a family of engravers and painters. His maternal grandfather was Diego Rivera, the famous artist.
Following a short period at the Escuela de Pintura “La Esmeralda,” he attended the class of Gilberto Aceves Navarro in the Academia de San Carlos from 1974 -77.
He moved to Paris in 1977 to study at the Ecole National des Beaux-Arts and Henri Cartier-Bresson became his friend and mentor.
Back in Mexico, during the 1980s, he painted in the studio of the painter Ricardo Martínez and learned the Venetian Technique with the painter Vlady (Serge).
In 1984, Alvarado held his first one man show in the Galería de Arte Mexicano, and in 1991 he painted a 60 square metre mural for the lobby of the Museo Amparo in Puebla, Mexico.
In England, during 1994, Alvarado worked as assistant to the Nicaraguan painter Armando Morales. Pedro Diego Alvarado presents individual exhibitions regularly and has participated in many collective shows in Mexico and internationally.
