Lifting of the Soviet Blockade in Berlin 60 year anniversary this May
The entry to Berlin was closed from the west by Soviet Forces from June 1948 to May 1949 to prevent the other Allies unifying the western part of Germany.The British and US forces responded by sending supplies to the city by air for over a year.
Fall of the Berlin Wall & History of the GDR and the Berlin Wall 20th anniversary this November
For nearly three decades the Berlin wall kept East and West Berliners apart. Images convey life for East Germans around the heavily guarded Berlin wall as well as the jubilant celebration of its fall.

SZ Archive Photo archive of the Munich-based daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
19th and 20th century German history including poignant photographs of relatives separated by the Iron Curtain as well as life for civilians during WWII and its aftermath. Nearly 300 images catalogued with access to many more.
The Deutsches Historisches Museum (DHM, German Historical Museum)
Strong in 20th century German history including Hitler youth rallies, civilian life in post war Germany, the construction of the Berlin Wall and the history of the GDR. Also includes fine art masterpieces and the graphic art of early German advertising. More than 500 images catalogued so far.
