Francis Farmar is one of Bridgeman’s most popular contemporary artists, with works regularly licensed for book covers, greeting cards and newspaper articles.

We are delighted that over 60 new bird's-eye view paintings, including many of London landmarks, have been added to his portfolio of work available for licensing.

Francis grew up in Surrey and describes himself as having been born to be a painter. He studied art in the 1960s, spending six months in Italy, a year at St Martin's and then three years at The West of England College of Art, Bristol.

Following a long tradition of panoramas stretching back to the sixteenth century, Francis tries to embrace more than can be seen from a single viewpoint, pulling and bending the landscape to reveal a broader vision filled with incident.

Wherever he goes Francis attempts to capture the season and atmosphere of each place.

As well as iconic urban landmarks in London, Sydney, Hong Kong, Paris and Venice, he applies his unique birds-eye perspective to idyllic rural and coastal locations not least on the Wiltshire-Dorset border where he now lives.

"I like to bring my work to as broad an audience as possible and Bridgeman has been a great help with this."

Over the years Francis Farmar has exhibited his work at many prestigious galleries and venues in London, the provinces and abroad. His next exhibition is due in London during November so keeps your eyes peeled for details nearer to the time.
