Breathtaking views of the English countryside by James and Kate Lynch. NEW images available for licensing.

James and Kate Lynch live on a hill overlooking the Somerset Levels and Moors where their studios command breathtaking views. James's interest in paragliding also lends him a unique perspective.

James Lynch was born in 1956 and has been painting professionally for thirty years. From his first sell-out exhibition in the 1980's he went on to win awards and prizes from the Royal Academy, the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and the Spectator. With patrons including the National Trust, James exhibits regularly with the Jonathan Cooper, Park Walk Gallery in London.

James became known in the 1980's and 90's for his monumental animals set in visionary landscapes, but his recent work focuses on the Somerset and Dorset landscape and its different moods at times of day, seasonal light and dramatic weather.

Bypassing the normal art school channels, James's work is firmly in the tradition of English Romantic painters and Samuel Palmer is cited as a primary influence.

Kate Lynch began exhibiting in 1985, initially focused on primitive images of the mother and child. Over the next ten years she became established with low-key, atmospheric landscapes and expressive pastels.

More recently she has become interested in the the traditional farmers and craftsmen who work in the landscape of the Somerset Levels.

A qualified art teacher, Kate mixes her professional life as a painter with educational work in schools and community art projects.
