What is KTP?

KTP stands for Knowledge Transfer Partnership, a government funded initiative.

It is a funding competition awarded to companies who wish to benefit from a partnership resulting in the academic exchange of knowledge and skills.

It was set up as a research project to help improve the image resource Bridgeman Education, to be achieved through a partnership with University of the Arts, London.
 

Background

The KTP project, led by KTP Associate Kalliopi Vacharopoulou and London College of Communication (LCC) academics David Penfold and Lindsay MacDonald, was set up in July 2008 to review Bridgeman's Education activities and research the art and design educational market and the field of visual resources. The project is due to come to an end in January 2010.

Outcomes

  • Work on taxonomies and categories of images which relate to courses on Graphic Design, History of Science, Fashion
  • Exposure of Bridgeman content and feedback from Graphic Design Schools
  • Development of educational user requirements in terms of content, access and funtionality
  • Exploration of possible business models for licensing images
  • A better understanding of the educational market and how material is used in coursework
